Das Haus wurde im Jahre 1927 für die bekannte Tänzerin Josephine Baker entworfen und ist nur aus Entwürfen bekannt, denn es wurde niemals gebaut. Adolf Loos schränkte sich bei der Planung in keinster Weise ein und platzierte ein Schwimmbad im Interieur, während die Fassade mit extravaganten schwarz-weißen Streifen aus Marmor geschmückt werden sollte. Adolf Loos begegnete Josephine Baker tatsächlich; unklar ist allerdings, ob der Künstlerin überhaupt bekannt war, dass Loos für sie ein Haus in Eigeninitiative entworfen hatte.

Dům navržený roku 1927 pro slavnou tanečnici Josephine Baker je znám pouze z nákresů, neboť nikdy nebyl postaven. Adolf Loos se při jeho návrhu nijak neomezoval a do interiéru umístil bazén a fasádu měly zdobit extravagantní černobílé pruhy z leštěných mramorů. Adolf Loos se s Josephine Baker skutečně setkal, není však jisté, zda umělkyně vůbec zjistila, že pro ni z vlastní iniciatvy i navrhl dům.

House Baker, designed in 1927 for the famous dancer Josephine Baker, is known from drawings and a model only – it was never built. Adolf Loos did not hold his horses and designed a house with internal swimming pool and extravagant marble facade with stripes in black and white. Adolf Loos and Josephine Baker actually met each other but it is unclear to this day whether Miss Baker knew about the existence of the house that was designed for her at all.
